Ingredients:

1 cup Coca Cola (regular, not diet)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1 stick of unsalted butter
6 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Frosting:

1 stick of unsalted butter
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
6 tablespoons cream or milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 3/4 cups confectioner’s sugar

Directions:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175 degrees Celsius). Grease and flour a 13 x 9 inch baking pan.

In a saucepan, combine Coca Cola, vegetable oil, butter, and cocoa powder. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring continuously. Remove from heat.

In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt.

Pour the boiling Coca Cola mixture over the flour mixture. Stir well to combine.

In a small bowl, beat the eggs lightly. Add the buttermilk, baking soda, and vanilla extract to the eggs. Mix well.

Add the egg mixture to the batter and beat until smooth.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool for about 10 minutes.

While the cake is cooling, prepare the frosting. In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the cocoa powder and milk, and stir until the butter is fully melted and the mixture is well combined.

Remove the saucepan from heat and add the vanilla extract. Gradually whisk in the confectioner’s sugar until the frosting is smooth and spreadable.

Spread the frosting evenly over the warm cake.

Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
