Meatballs are a delicious and versatile food that can be enjoyed in many ways. They can be made with different meats, seasonings, and cooking methods, and can be served as a main course, appetizer, or sandwich. While there are many recipes for meatballs out there, baked meatballs are a popular and easy option that can be made quickly and with minimal effort.
Baked meatballs are a healthier alternative to fried meatballs, as they are not cooked in oil and do not absorb excess fat. This makes them a great option for those who are watching their calorie intake or trying to eat healthier. They are also easy to prepare and can be made in large batches, making them perfect for meal prepping or feeding a crowd.
Ingredients:
1 pound lean ground beef
2 eggs, beaten
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 cup panko breadcrumbs or regular breadcrumbs
1 small onion, minced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon salt
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1/4 cup minced fresh basil leaves
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, beaten eggs and milk, grated Parmesan cheese, breadcrumbs, minced onion and garlic, oregano, salt, black pepper, and minced fresh basil. Use your hands to mix well.
Form the mixture into golf ball-sized meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until they are cooked through and no longer pink in the center.
To make meatball subs, place the cooked meatballs on a sub roll, top with spaghetti sauce, shredded mozzarella cheese, and toast in the oven until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve hot.
Enjoy these delicious meatballs on their own or as a hearty sandwich!
