Refrigerator Dill Pickles

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

If you like pickles, this wonderful Refrigerator Dill Pickles recipe can help you make your own! You’ll be astonished how simple it is to create homemade pickles using fresh sliced cumbers in a homemade brine with pickling spices, fresh garlic, and dill.

Ingredients:

3 quarts liquid
white vinegar, 3/4 cup
2 teaspoons kosher salt
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
6 cucumbers, tiny
8 fresh dill sprigs 4 peeled and thinly cut garlic cloves
2 tblsp. spices for pickling

Instructions:

Bring the water, vinegar, granulated sugar, and 2 teaspoons of salt to a boil in a medium saucepan over medium to medium-high heat. Reduce the heat to low and continue to cook for another 15 minutes. Allow to cool before serving.
Cucumbers should be washed and sliced into four spears for a total of 24 spears. Trim one end of each cucumber to make it the correct size for the jars if it’s too tall to stand up in the jars without protruding out the top. Cucumbers should be placed in each jar (they may not all fit, which is fine—save the extra cucumber spears for another use).

Place the fresh dill sprigs between the cucumbers in the jars. Fill the jars with the sliced garlic and pickling spices.
Fill the jars halfway with heated brine and close them with lids.
Before serving, chill for at least 24 hours. Store in the refrigerator for up to one month (discard leftovers after 1 month).
