Ingredients

  • 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant banana pudding mix
  • 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple (including juice)
  • 1 container (8 ounces) Cool Whip, thawed
  • 1 cup mini marshmallows
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts (plus 2 tablespoons for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips (plus 1 tablespoon for garnish)
  • 2 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 2 jars (10 ounces each) maraschino cherries, halved and patted dry

Instructions

  1. Combine Pudding and Pineapple: In a large bowl, mix the dry banana pudding mix with the crushed pineapple until fully dissolved and thickened.
  2. Add Cool Whip: Gently fold in the thawed Cool Whip using a spatula until well incorporated.
  3. Mix Other Ingredients: Carefully stir in the mini marshmallows, 1/2 cup chopped walnuts, 1/4 cup mini chocolate chips, banana slices, and halved cherries.
  4. Chill: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld and the dessert to firm up.
  5. Garnish and Serve: Before serving, sprinkle the top with the reserved chopped walnuts and mini chocolate chips. Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Banana Tips: If preparing in advance, add the banana slices just before serving to prevent browning. Alternatively, dip the banana slices in lemon juice to slow the browning process, though this may impart a slight lemon flavor.
