Ingredients

  • 2 cups unsalted butter
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 4 cups granulated sugar
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1.5 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 2 cups M&M’s candies, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch square baking pan with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, remove from heat and add 1/2 cup of the semi-sweet chocolate chips along with the sugar. Stir until the chocolate is fully melted and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
  4. Mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Sift together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder in a separate bowl. Gradually fold this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined, ensuring not to overmix.
  6. Fold in the remaining semi-sweet chocolate chips and 1/2 cup of M&M’s candies.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining M&M’s candies over the top of the batter.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 38 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  10. Allow the brownies to cool completely in the pan before lifting out using the parchment paper overhang and cutting into squares.
