Ingredients:

  • 1 pound Brussels Sprouts
  • 6 slices Bacon, diced
  • 1 tablespoon Unsalted or Salted Butter
  • Salt and Pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Cut the Brussels sprouts in half lengthwise, and if they are large, quarter them to ensure even sizing and remove any excess stems.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced bacon until crispy, stirring occasionally, for about 5-8 minutes. Transfer the crispy bacon to a paper towel-lined plate.
  3. Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet, discarding the excess.
  4. Add butter to the skillet and allow it to melt. Place the Brussels sprouts in the skillet with the cut side facing down. Cover with a lid and sauté over medium heat for 6 to 8 minutes, or until they start to brown.
  5. Toss the Brussels sprouts and continue to sauté, tossing occasionally, until the edges are brown and fork-tender. This step typically takes an additional 3 to 10 minutes, depending on the desired level of crispiness.
  6. Reintroduce the crispy bacon pieces to the pan. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve immediately.

Notes: Personal preference: Achieving a heavier amount of browning/crispiness on the edges enhances the smoky flavor when combined with the bacon. For a preferred level of doneness, aim for the outer edge leaves to turn slightly black.
