Ingredients

  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • ¼ cup softened margarine
  • 3 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 package (0.25 ounce) instant yeast
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup lukewarm water
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup softened margarine
  • 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ cup raisins (optional)

Directions

  1. Heat the Milk: Warm the milk in a small saucepan until it’s just hot to the touch or small bubbles form around the edges. Remove from heat and stir in ¼ cup margarine until melted. Set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 ¼ cups of the flour, granulated sugar, yeast, and salt. Add the milk mixture, lukewarm water, and egg. Beat the mixture well until smooth. Gradually add the remaining 1 cup of flour, ½ cup at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition until a soft dough forms.
  3. Knead the Dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead for about 5 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  4. Prepare the Filling: While the dough is resting, combine the brown sugar, ½ cup margarine, and cinnamon in a small bowl. Mix until well combined and set aside.
  5. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin pan to prevent sticking.
  6. Shape the Dough: Roll the rested dough out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle measuring approximately 12×9 inches. Spread the brown sugar and margarine mixture evenly over the dough. If using, sprinkle the raisins over the sugar mixture.
  7. Form the Rolls: Starting from the long side, roll the dough tightly into a log and pinch the seam to seal. Cut the log into 12 equal slices.
  8. Let Rolls Rise: Place the slices cut-side up into the prepared muffin cups. Cover and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 30 minutes.
  9. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown.
  10. Cool and Serve: Remove the rolls from the muffin pan and let them cool on a wire rack. Serve warm and enjoy!

This unique version of the classic recipe ensures fluffy, delicious rolls with a rich cinnamon flavor, perfect for any occasion!
