Cinnamon Toast

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

I was looking around the cupboard the other day for something to prepare for a quick and simple breakfast for Jack and myself when I came across a loaf of bread and thought to myself, “Cinnamon toast!”

Now, my recipe has changed a little over the years, but chances are you already have everything you need in the cupboard and fridge to prepare this at home.

Ingredients

1 tablespoon unsalted butter, softened

1 teaspoon ground cinnamon sprinkle of salt

1/4 cup sugar

4 pieces of bread

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Combine the butter, sugar, cinnamon, and salt in a small mixing basin. To get everything to come together, the butter has to be soft.

Spread the mixture equally over one side of each of the four slices of bread, making sure to go right up to the edges. It will appear to be a lot, but believe me.

Place the bread on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes in a preheated oven.

Then, turn on the broiler and broil the bread until it’s a deep golden brown and the sugar has melted. I usually stand directly next to the oven, with the door slightly ajar, to keep an eye on it and avoid it from burning.

If desired, cut in half and serve.
