This Easy Cherry Danish with Cream Cheese dish will quickly become a family favourite for a quick breakfast. The danishes begin with crescent rolls from the grocery, filled with sweetened cream cheese and cherry pie filling.

Ingredients:

1 8 oz. Pillsbury Crescent Rolls, plus a little flour for dusting

Filling:

cream cheese, 4 oz.

4 tbsp sugar powder

10 tablespoons cherry pie filling from a can

Glaze:

a half-cup of powdered sugar

a couple of tablespoons of milk

Instructions:

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the crescent dough from the can without unrolling it. Cut the dough into 8 slices and arrange them on a cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Each portion should be pressed into 3-inch circular pieces, with a ridge along the outside border.

Combine cream cheese and 4 tablespoons of powdered sugar in a small mixing bowl. Spread roughly 2 tablespoons cream cheese mixture in the middle of each piece of dough and spread outwards.

1 teaspoon cherry pie filling on top of the cream cheese combination Preheat oven to 350°F and bake for 12 to 14 minutes, or until golden brown. Before transferring them, let them cool for 4 to 5 minutes on the baking sheet.

Combine 1/2 cup powdered sugar and 2-3 tablespoons milk in a small mixing basin. Start with 2 teaspoons of milk and gradually add more until you reach the desired consistency. Using a spoon, drizzle glaze over the Danish and serve warm.

Using Pastry Dough, make a Strawberry Jam Danish.

Use 1 pound thawed puff pastry (2 sheets) and double the ingredients. Lightly roll the papers into a 10″x10″ square. Cut each sheet into 12 equal strips using a pizza cutter.

By securely squeezing two ends together and twisting the strand from top to bottom, you may combine two of the strips. Working from the centre out, press one end of the twisted strand onto your work area and wrap it around it. Pinch the end of the pastry to secure it. To keep the centre from ballooning up too much, flatten it gently with your hands and poke it a few times with a fork.

Brush the outside edges with an egg wash (1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water) and bake for 18-20 minutes in the centre of the oven at 400°F.
