This recipe strikes the perfect balance between simplicity and flavor, ensuring that every bite is packed with savory goodness.

Ingredients:

4 large green tomatoes
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornmeal
1/2 cup bread crumbs
2 teaspoons coarse kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 quart vegetable oil for frying

Instructions:

Slice the green tomatoes into 1/2-inch thick rounds, discarding the ends.
In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.
Spread the flour onto a plate. On another plate, combine the cornmeal, bread crumbs, salt, and pepper.
Dip each tomato slice into the flour, ensuring it’s coated. Then dip it into the egg and milk mixture, followed by dredging it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
In a large skillet, pour enough vegetable oil to have a 1/2-inch depth and heat it over medium heat.
Place the coated tomato slices into the skillet in batches of 4 or 5, depending on the skillet’s size. Avoid overcrowding the tomatoes; they should not touch each other.
Fry the tomatoes until they turn golden brown on one side, then flip them over and fry the other side.
Once they are browned and crispy, remove the fried green tomatoes from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Enjoy your delicious fried green tomatoes!
