Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a pie plate or a 9-inch springform pan.
  2. In a heat-safe bowl, melt the butter and 2 cups of the chocolate chips together until smooth. This can be done using a double boiler or by microwaving at 50% power in 30-second intervals, stirring in between. Allow the mixture to cool.
  3. Using an electric mixer, beat the eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract on medium-high speed until the mixture becomes light and fluffy, about 3 minutes.
  4. Gently mix in the cooled chocolate mixture.
  5. Fold in the flour, baking powder, and salt until just combined. Then, mix in the remaining 1 cup of chocolate chips.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until the center is puffed. The top may crack.
  7. Remove from the oven and let the dessert cool completely.
  8. Serve topped with hot fudge if desired.
