Potato Soup Recipe – My Grandmother Verdie’s Potato Soup recipe is a pleasant, old-fashioned soup. There are only 5 ingredients in this recipe, and no heavy cream is used!


2 pounds (about 6 medium) washed, peeled, and diced Russet potatoes


3 quarts of whole milk

a quarter-pound of butter

season with salt and pepper to taste


In a large soup pot, cover potatoes with water.

Cook for 20 minutes over medium heat, or until fork tender. Remove the pan from the heat and drain.

Toss the potatoes with the milk and butter. Return to medium heat for 5 to 10 minutes, or until milk begins to boil around the rims of the soup pot.

Remove the pan from the heat and spoon the soup into soup cups.

Season to taste with salt and pepper.
