This oven baked asparagus is wonderful, with crispy bacon and a sweet glaze!
Asparagus wrapped in bacon is a delicious side dish for special occasions. Before baking, brush with a sweet brown sugar glaze for a caramelized treat!

INGREDIENTS:

1 pound trimmed asparagus ends
5-6 bacon slices
a quarter cup of light brown sugar
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
a half-teaspoon of soy sauce
a quarter teaspoon of garlic powder
peppercorns, freshly ground

INSTRUCTIONS:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Depending on the amount of your asparagus, divide it into five or six bundles and wrap a slice of bacon around each one, securing it with a toothpick. Place the bundles, toothpick side down, in a casserole dish.

In a small sauce pan, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, butter, and garlic powder. Over medium-high heat, bring to a boil. Remove the pan from the heat and add freshly ground black pepper to taste.

Pour the glaze over the asparagus bundles, making sure that the bacon is well covered.

Bake for 20 minutes, then switch the heat to broil and bake for another 5 to 6 minutes, until the bacon is crisp, monitoring closely and rotating frequently.
Take out the toothpicks and serve right away.
