Dorito Taco Salad

The perfect salad for a potluck or party! This Dorito Taco Salad is always a hit anywhere I bring it and we’ve been serving it my entire life. It’s loaded with ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions and Nacho Cheese Doritos for the perfect crunch!


  • 1 large bag of Dorito Nacho Cheese Chips, broken into bite-sized pieces
  • 1 pound of lean ground beef
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning
  • 1 medium red onion, finely diced
  • 2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 head of lettuce, finely shredded
  • 6 ripe tomatoes, diced
  • ½ cup of Italian dressing
  • 2 cups of ranch dressing


  1. Begin by browning the lean ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked and crumbled.
  2. Once the beef is cooked, drain any excess fat from the skillet.
  3. Add the taco seasoning packet to the cooked beef, stirring well to evenly distribute the seasoning.
  4. Pour in both the Italian dressing and ranch dressing, stirring to combine thoroughly. Allow the mixture to simmer until the liquid is absorbed, creating a flavorful base.
  5. While the meat mixture simmers, prepare the fresh ingredients. Shred the lettuce and place it in a serving bowl. Dice the tomatoes and red onion, placing each in separate bowls.
  6. Once the meat mixture is ready, assemble the salad. You can either layer the ingredients in individual bowls or combine them directly with the meat mixture, based on preference.
  7. To serve, distribute the dressed beef mixture over the shredded lettuce. Top with diced tomatoes, onions, and shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy the deliciously flavorful taco salad!

By keeping the ingredients separate until serving, individuals can customize their salads according to their preferences. Any leftover ingredients can be stored separately in the refrigerator for future use.
