Ingredients:

  • 1 lb dried northern beans
  • 1 ham bone, hocks, shanks, or 1 lb diced ham
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 6 cups water
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

  1. Begin by rinsing and sorting the beans to remove any debris.
  2. Place the rinsed beans into the crockpot. Add onion powder, salt, pepper, and the ham bone, hocks, shanks, or diced ham.
  3. Pour in the water.
  4. Cover the crockpot and cook on low for approximately 8 hours, or until the beans are tender.
  5. Once cooked, remove the ham bone, shanks, or hocks from the crockpot. Pull off any meat and add it back into the crockpot. Mix well.
  6. Serve the delicious beans with cornbread on the side. Enjoy!
