Ingredients:

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 tablespoons Hershey’s cocoa powder
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) salted butter
  • 1 can (5 ounces) Carnation Evaporated Milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Optional: nuts of your choice

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients:
    • Measure out 2 cups of sugar and 4 tablespoons of cocoa powder.
    • Cut the stick of butter into smaller pieces for easy melting.
    • Open the can of Carnation Evaporated Milk and have it ready.
  2. Combine Sugar and Cocoa:
    • In a sturdy saucepan, mix together the sugar and cocoa powder until well combined.
  3. Add Butter and Evaporated Milk:
    • Add the pieces of salted butter and the entire can of evaporated milk to the saucepan with the sugar-cocoa mixture.
  4. Heat and Stir:
    • Over medium heat, stir the ingredients continuously until the mixture begins to boil. This should take a few minutes.
  5. Boil and Stir:
    • Once boiling, continue stirring the mixture consistently for about 7 minutes. This helps the fudge to thicken and cook properly.
  6. Add Vanilla and Continue Stirring:
    • Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the teaspoon of vanilla extract. Keep stirring for an additional 3 minutes to ensure a smooth texture.
  7. Optional: Add Nuts:
    • If using nuts, gently fold them into the fudge mixture at this stage.
  8. Pour and Set:
    • Quickly pour the hot fudge into a buttered or lined baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  9. Allow to Set:
    • Let the fudge cool and set at room temperature for at least a couple of hours or refrigerate for faster setting.
  10. Serve and Enjoy:
    • Once set, cut the fudge into squares or desired shapes and serve!

This classic fudge recipe creates a delightful treat with a perfect balance of sweetness and chocolatey goodness!
