Ingredients:

  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 1 large green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 pound thinly sliced beefsteak
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
  • 8 egg roll wrappers
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. In a large skillet, heat a small amount of oil over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and green bell pepper to the skillet and sauté until softened, approximately 5 minutes.
  3. Add the thinly sliced beef to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the provolone cheese until fully melted. Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool to room temperature.
  5. Place an egg roll wrapper on a clean work surface, with one corner facing you.
  6. Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the beef and cheese mixture onto the center of the wrapper.
  7. Roll the wrapper tightly around the filling, folding in the sides as you go. Repeat this process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  8. In a large, deep saucepan, heat approximately 2 inches of vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F.
  9. Working in batches, carefully add the egg rolls to the hot oil and fry until they turn golden brown and crispy, which usually takes about 3 to 4 minutes.
  10. Use a slotted spoon to remove the egg rolls from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  11. Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls while hot, accompanied by your preferred dipping sauce.
