  • 4 egg yolks (keep egg whites at room temperature for the meringue)
  • 12 ounces evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 stick of butter
  • 1 baked 9-inch pie shell

For the Filling:

  1. In a large microwave-safe bowl, thoroughly mix the sugar, cocoa powder, cornstarch, and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add the evaporated milk and egg yolks to the dry ingredients. Whisk everything together until well combined.
  3. Microwave the mixture for 2 minutes on high. Then, whisk vigorously.
